Advent Poems for November 30, 2025
Isaiah 2:1-5, Romans 13:11-14, & Matthew 24:36-44
Tools for Tending After Isaiah 2:1-5 I often think of the ways we’ve learned to survive. I understand why they are thought necessary— but isn’t there a better way? When Christ returns— we will turn our weapons into tools for tending this world in need of repair. Why not start now? Be a part of that stream— come, let’s go— my Healer will teach us. --- Children of Light After Romans 13:11-14 The cosmos knows cold, dark winter. All seems frozen— unfeeling to the Sun’s warming radiance. But through the gray clouds the Light streams and the world relearns its former image. Could we be children of the Light? Could we live today, amid the frost, as though winter was over? --- Wake Me After Matthew 24:36-44 To live awake in a sleeping world might be our ultimate task. Wake me by Your lavish grace so I will say, “This heart, my little life, here, O Christ, You hold sway. I want to be awake in This sleeping world. Wake me.”
