Christ is the Everything and More

A Poem inspired by Col. 1:15-28 for Sunday, July 20, 2025

How can I explain,
or even begin to describe
Jesus?

Christ is the Everything—
but also More.
Jesus is the gatherer:
the One who brings and puts together
every scattered thing,
every broken place,
every forgotten person—
again. 
New.

Can I grasp this Jesus, 
who is beyond the word
"mystery"?

To be truthful—
to be honest—
I cannot.

Jesus is all that I cannot
understand,
hold,
imagine.

And yet—some might call it a miracle—
Christ takes shape within me,
I, who ache for shape.

This we proclaim:
Christ is the Everything and More.
